Opportunities to join the lab

Interested in ecological research? Interested in how people are affecting ecosystems? If so, consider joining the lab. We welcome new lab members from all races, ethnicities, and geographic regions; genders and sexual orientations; ages, religions, and economic backgrounds.

Please note that the lab is now based at the Carnegie Institution for Science, Department of Global Ecology, on the Stanford University campus.

Are you an undergraduate looking for experience, or interested in doing honors research?

We have occasional openings for local undergraduates to conduct and/or help with research in the lab. Students interested in conducting honors research should contact me as early as possible so that we can develop a suitable project. Students looking for research credits through independent projects or assisting with ongoing research should contact me and provide information about their range of interests, relevant courses they have taken (or experience), and, if possible, the names and contact information for references. We also periodically hire undergraduate assistants, depending on project needs.

Are you considering graduate school?

I enjoy advising graduate students, but during the current transition between institutions I will not be accepting new ones into my lab. In the future, prospective students may be able to apply to work with me through academic departments at Stanford.

Are you looking for a postdoctoral mentor?

I enjoy working with postdoctoral researchers. Unless you see an advertisement on this page, I do not have funding for a specific postdoctoral position at this time. However, there are a variety of fellowships available through other organizations. If you are interested in working in my lab and would like to develop a proposal for funding with me, or have plans to seek an external fellowship, please contact me by email.
